Student Question

How do you create tests? Are there test banks at your school that you must use?

Hi Nancy, Thanks for your post to the forum. I am sure that your students appreciate your candor and learn from your example! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

I teach in the clinical setting where lots of different situations arise for myself to ask questions and for students to ask question. This has been very challenging for me, and "keeps me on my toes"! So I do not use a test bank, I either have to say i don't know the answer to the question (which I must admit, is difficult, but I'm getting more comfortable with it) or answer spontaneously.

Is there a certain percentage of tests that should or should NOT be personally constructed? Is there an industry ratio relating to post secondary career schools?

Hi John - Thanks for your post to the forum. At my college we use some test banks, generally they come from the publishers of the books we use. We also have some test banks that are based on industry exams. In addition, we often construct tests based on what we have taught in class.
Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
