Test formats
different test formats will help determine how students learn/recall information
Class size is often an important factor influencing the decision about testing my students. It is very difficult to give essay tests when there aretoo many students in the class because the scoring time is prohibitive. I read a survey of 1100 professors from across the country showed that class size is the factor that professors consider most important when they decide what test format to use. Two-thirds of the faculty surveyed said they preferred the essay format but could not use it because of the size of their classes. They used essay tests only in small classes.
Hi Roger, Although I have heard objections to "Teaching to the Test" ultimately we ow that to our students. Bottom line is that they will need to know the material to pass the test. Susan

Our tests have a lot of Tech A and Tech B questions and the students find them hard. But we have to prepare them for this type of a test. I have tutored a lot of students about the key words to look for and it seems to help.
