When creating an assessment, it is also important that students understand the assessment process and what they need to do to earn a certain grade. For each assessment, I create a rubric. The creation of a rubric helps eliminate subjectivity when evaluating student performace and sets clear expectations. Once I create an assignment or project, I give the students a copy of the accompanying rubric in advance.
