Has a Instructor
Has an Instructor I feel it is my job to help students open and expand their minds so they may apply themselves to the best of their capability. Students only get out of something what they put into it; with a open mind they get that much more.
I agree as well. We commonly hear the statement.I paid x amount of dollars to be here. I am continually reminding those students that we appreciate them being here and admire all of the hard work that they are doing, but I ask them to respect the other students in the class. I put it out to the class, that we are here to help everyone in the class and not a certain one or few and always try to bring the whole class to a leve where everyone can learn.
That's correct Eric, we must all continue to grow ourselves or we will no longer be effective to our students success.
I agree I will give this example all the time.
Richard I'm with you in this and feel we have many tools available to us that motivate the student to take a active role in their own education even something as simple as showing the student we are always looking for the opportunity to learn something new ourselves.
Wow ,Richard I see we all agree, It seems like some feel since they paid to be here they expect a good grade. However they need to earn what they get as a grade.
Absolutely Chad!

Agreed, I find that bringing in real world examples helps broaden the students prespective and open there minds to "Hey, I remeber when that happened to me!". Once you get that you've got them hooked.
I agree and I would like to add that when students walks out of the classroom it is always nice for them to know how what they just learned applies in the real world.
Bravo Richard! Keep up the good work!

I agree with Richard and additionally find that we need to help the student refocus the reason they came to the school and what they want to accomplish while here
