Hi James!
AND - what a great way to build student self-esteem as well as helping them reenforce what they already know.
Good job!

I teach at an automotive school. I like to tell my students that my background is not automotive, it is all electrical/electronic. When students ask me about mechanical systems, I have them teach me what they know so I can learn more. I have been teaching here for 6 years now and students ask, "How do you know so much about cars if all you did was electrical?" I tell them that I learned it from other students. I remind them that you can always learn something from anyone.
It is important to realize that as a teacher you can learn from the students too. It is hard to remeber this when you have a know it all student who you can tell has contempt for you. If you ask them about what they are doing when they have done something their way and not how they have been asked to do it, if you react as if interested they are often surprised. It is difficult as you want to react to them for not following directions, but sometimes they come up with very interesting ideas.
