Providing a Positive Learning Environment

The message in this module is clear; if we can monitor our classroom environment, be aware of the words we speak (what we say and how we say it)it can only improve the learning experience for our students.

Melody,
if we show that we are willing to learn & to admit when we're wrong it generally helps our students to be in the same mindset.

Dr. Ryan Meers

Yes, humility is important. This quality allows the student to feel more comfortable, and encourages them to be more open and communicative as well.

I agree. But listen to your students, who, in this environment have experiences that you don't have and can add a great deal to a discussion, making it richer and acknowledging their experience and knowledge.

I am always very up front about it if a student asks me something I don't know offhand. I usually offer to look it up for them, and I make sure to re-visit the topic the next day and hopefully provide an answer or at least more information. I think it helps "humanize" me as an instructor-I am a "subject matter expert" but I don't know everything and I never pretend to.

So true , so true. try to always keep a conducive learning environment.

We do not have to be all knowing everything as students could actualy know something that we do not. We need to be aware of our classroom focus on students so to keep them engaged into your class so they can retain the knowledge we are trying to give to them.

True , presentation of the delivered content is equally important as the content itself . Accurate and relevant information , if presented poorly , may not be retained .
