I will employ this technique: Suggest, Ask and Tell when I feel the class has deviated from the learning objectives of the day. I will also be more aware to do so in a positive vs. negative way.
I can tell you really like what you do. I like how you continue to stay current and learn new technologies in your field. Your experience in the field brings knowledge of past technologies and new technologies and shows how both new and old technologies work together.
I believe in your approach and also share the same feelings in applications.
This technique works well. I figured this out when I noticed my students drifting off a bit. It's a great way of refocusing the class emphasizing topics that are important that they should stay awake for.
