yes & this also helps to show them that what they are learning in the class has connections to the real world.

I agree. In addition, I try to incorporate situations that may have occured in the students' life, and relate it to how they may see it in the field. I find that more students are willing to share their situations and therefore join in the discussion where they may not have before.
