colors
I have not tried useing different colors for assignments but I will and I will let you know how it works for me
I have not specifically used colored markers as a way to consciously enhance learning or make a point. I have always just used the color available. I am going to try using colored markers to see if it makes a difference for my students!
I teach at a design school where students do learn the power of color and the importance of effective usage. I use color styling in presentations - highlighting and bringing emphasis to topics. I also use colored markers when explaining on the board.
Room colors, I believe, should be subdued and non-distractive; I generally use white stationery; I like being consistent, having to deal with availability of specific colored paper gets to be cumbersome. I like my handouts to be clear, so again if I do use color, it's in the styling of the document and not the stationery itself.
Hi Craig!
Mfgrs don't make a big enough variety of colored markers for me. It is a WONDERFUl way to emphasize important points, draw comparisons, show differences, etc., etc.
Keep up the good work!

I like to use different color markers on the white board also. It seems to help when you use bolder colors to emphasise important topics.
I think that using color in a major way, for instance actually painting a room in a specific color can be difficult and cause problems. Yellow, if it's very bright can actually cause eye fatigue, clear bright red can cause temper and violence problems, purple, depending on which one, can cause depression. In small amounts, color can be used very effectively but in large amounts, it may cause problems.
Hi Jose! What a fun experiment - what made you decide on purple? Is is conducive to learning?

I'm repainting my room as an experiment to see how students react to a color change. We're switching from yellow to purple. Hopefully it will be a success.
bright colors brings life to a class room. Students are more attentive when the class room is full with colors. Excessive colors can cause distraction.Don't over do it.
i have used differant colors as i write on the white board during lecture. it help break up topics instead of having the board all in black writing and you can use bright colors on spacific words to help tem stand out

It's interesting how color triggers such different things for different people. For example, I have found that strong colors trigger equally positive and negative, more pastel colors trigger calmness but also boredom. It's very tricky.
