Posters for color!

My classroom is big and painted tan with black and red trim. We have given the room some character by hanging huge posters on the walls. The students have responded more favorably than when we had student art on the walls.

i like when students make coments on the unique colors on the posters that the course has to show them and it dose catch the of other student passing by

I used to have student made posters on the walls in my class also. The rooms have been redone and now have professionally made posters. I found the students seemed to pay more attention to the posters when they were done by previous students in the class. I have even had students wanting to take home another students poster.

I agree on this too, and the material on the wall gives me something to refer to during lectures, other than what's in their books or handed around the room. I can move around the classroom, so I'm not just standing up front; that helps change their focus and keeps them alert. I also get them up and out of their seats sometimes, to do things like matching games on the posters and decorations, to try to see who can be the first to match to what's on the powerpoint at the moment. This gets their blood moving, gives them a little state change, and makes them really concentrate on the subject at hand.

i belive that color help and changing things around seem to brake things up.

I agree, especially when it is the students own artwork it shows that their opinion or hard work is appreciated. I can also create a little bit of friendly competition between classes to see who has the best artwork. This willincrease the students need and want to succeed.
