Music
Being a musician i can relate to music as an overall source of calmness, it is very good for the soul.
I find that music can absolutely help motivate students of create a more energetic environment.
Being in a kitchen, 90% of the time we had music on. To make it fair for the cooks they would rotate turns on playing the station so everyone was able to hear their type of music. In the classroom music is not allowed to be played as some music might offend others and it keeps it straight forward with no offense by not playing music.
I believe music is a great motivater and can be used as a tool if used properly. We used it in the kitchen all the time. I have used it in the classroom frequently with characterless music making up the majority, classical and nature sounds during study, and up-beat music during clean-up; since that is somewhat tedious and not necessarily needing a great deal of concentration.
James, if this were the case of voilation, than music would never be played anywhere, rethink that statement.
Music is a great motivator but I'm not sure if we are violating any copyright laws playing it.
Music? Kitchen are known for always having music playing it is motivating and keeps the atmosphere upbeat. Sometimes it can create a conflit of radio stations though .
