soft music eases students when entering a new enviorment

Thats interesting, it has been a rule in our class to be music free. Perhaps we should rethink this choice.

Music therapy work really well with patients I sure it will also work well in the class room. I am willing to try it.

I use music on a daily basis. If I don't the students miss it! My main use is to get their attention and I pick songs that relate to the topic or mood of the day.

I found that soft music helps my students stay focus and alert.

I have never tried this but I would like to. However I don't think my school that I teach at will approve this.

My students love it when I play music in the classroom. Particularily in the AutoCAD Lab. The feedback has been that the students develop a kind of rythm in executing drawing commands. If the music is a little faster they tend to think quicker and get more excited as their architectural drawings develop.

music in the classroom? Maybe at the beginning of class to ease students from the drive to school.

Absolutely. The research is fascinating.

Hi Mark!

I agree! It does seem that the kitchen/lab would be a perfect place to have music. It could be very relaxing in a very busy busy kitchen work environment.

Where possible, keep pushing the envelope for having appropriate music in your classroom at the appropriate.

Keep up the good work!

I've always liked using music during the learning process because it gets students to understand how to multi-task believe it or not. They have to understand that as the music is there to encourage them, it also allows them to keep in mind that they need to stay on task as well.

I love to have main-stream music playing in my kitchen/Lab. After going over the daily tasks, turning the music on seem to keep students focused (kind of in their own world). The chatter goes down and they seem to work better. I really see a difference in clean-up work when music is playing. It is too bad I am not allowed to play music.

Hi Jeffrey!

I hope that you have taken the opportunity to read the posts about music in the classroom. For "newbies", it should be very helpful.

Good work!

I haven't tried the music theory but I am really excited to try it.

Hi Shane!

I really like the music at the beginning of class. It helps students with very hectic schedules to have a moment to relax and collect their thoughts from the last class moving into the class at hand.

I do encourage you remember that you have a variety of students who you should consider when playing music during lab. As long as "ALL" students can work with music then all is well.

Keep up the good work!

I feel that music will calm the savage beast expecially during clean up in the lab. I wish that i can play music but there is no speaker system in my lab. I can see how this will benefit your students energy level.

I like to play some music(without words preferred)at the beginning of my class to create a easy tone and mood. However, I'll turn it off during my lecture. I also play music during the lab time. I have found out that my students focus on their assignment better.
