music

I have found using music calmes the nerves... as long as all the students enjoy what they are listening to.

As long as the students are ok with the music played and not trying to play their own style on the smartphones I find it help with relaxing everyone and putting them in a learning (and participating) mood.

I think your comment is a little peculiar considering we're in education and attrition is everyone's responsibility. Instructors with this mind set are ill advised, self-centered and DO NOT exude attributes to advance student learning. Music used correctly, is obviously beneficial at the proper time and with restraint.

I really agree with Troy. I use music as background noise. I try and choose a station that plays all types of music. It works well, as long as it does not become a distraction.

I do not care if they like it and if they complain I turn it up!
