Colors

It is so true how color can influence learning or inhibit it

I was in the fashion industry for a while, and even the colors that a person is wearing will affect the interaction with those individuals. People who have intense personalities are better served wearing colors that are not intimidating, such as pastels and lighter colors. It helps to balance out. Those who are a little more introverted would be better served by wearing bolder colors to offset their personalities. This can also come into play in the classroom as well.

Carolyn,
this is very true & we,as educators, should think about how we too can use color to help establish the mood or atmosphere that we wish to.

Color influences us in many ways, cultural, Psychological, physical, symbolical, and emotional. Knowledge of the use of color can enhance or inhibit learning.

Many industries use color to motivate customers - McDonalds use red and yellow to get customers in and out quickly.

Vallorie ,
colors can also be a great way to set off important material, highlight points, etc.

I have always thought that color therapy is more relevant than we realize. Even music can have colors. If you think of really exciting music that stirs the emotions, red may come to mind.
Blue music happens when you hear calm, soothing notes.

I have never used color as part of the learning experience, but I am so excited to try this.

Eric,
yes, the different uses of color to highlight ideas, make them stand out or to connect concepts with color are all great ways to aid in learning.
