Each class has their own make-up. You need to explore different techniques and styles with each group.

Yes, I try to always get the students involved. Get them going, get them active...get them learning!

Scott

I agree. You adapt/modify as you go-stay with what is working!

I try to break class up into some lecture, some audio visual, and some class activity.
It seems to work well for me...?

This depends on the class, yes I like to teach different learning styles. I do an assessment at the begining of each new class to get a grip on what type of class this is.

I agree different techniques can help students to learn effectively.

I absolutely agree. All student slearn DIFFERENTLY. When they are given a variety of ways to learn, they respond more positively. They feel like THEY are in the driver's seat. I use music, videos and have students DO things to improve their retention.

I agree. One never knows what learning styles the students in the classroom is made up of and all efforts should be made to include all learning types.

Trying to accompany all styles of learning is important. I think an hour block of instruction would be challenging to fit all styles in but it could be accomplished. This is the best way to reach all students.

Most student prefer lab instead of lecture

Since you will usually have all learning styles in a classroom I find it better to try to use materials to hit all styles. This gives everyone a equal chance to learn.

I agree. I try to mix different styles of learning into each class to keep the students engaged and feeling positive.

I'd say as long as it is appropriate to the material, I'd agree.

Hi Darlene!

Works well for the visual learner. So we have to be careful that we other types of learners as well.

I like to make my powerpoints interactive and fun! I use funny pictures and will leave slides blank for making list or annotating student comments or I will students come to the board and add comments, etc.

Good job!

I agree power points presentation can be helpful. It gives and actually visualation so the student can actually able to see what is being discuss.

Hi Richard!

I call the the classic "show, tell and repeat"! You are absolutely correct about a great way to reach all learning styles.

Keep up the good work!

Oh yes, even adults have a short attention span. I teach at a culinary school, and I use playdoh, role plays, powerpoints, case studies, group work...all these different types of activities is designed to reach out to the different learners out there, and if one person didn't get it doing it one way, then they will get it doing it another way.

I try to hit on all the styles of learning. I use powerpoints in the classroom while explaining in detail how the work will be done in lab. Then while in lab give a demonstration while the students watch me. Then let them repeat this themself with their on hands. This realy seems to work for almost all the students.

I try to implement all learning styles to insure that I have correctly targeted my audience.

I agree with this approach, I try to satisfy all three types of learners during my lectures. I have visual applications on the overhead for the visual learner while in lecture, I have physical props and 3D models for the hands on learnes, and with my lecture I satisfy the listening learner.
