I believe memorizing is important, but there is many ways and techniques students can use so will never forget what they "memorized" trial and error is one, by repetition, etc..

I am not real big on students memorizing things. I find a diffrence in memorizing and learning. Memorizing can be a short term learning that may help one pass a test. while learning something, the student must have a knowlege of why and how it works as it does. With this I feel retenntion of facts is greater
