Rethink your approach when teaching; mix up your method of teaching to engage the learner more.

I sometimes will encourage a student that has mastered a task to assist students that are having difficulties with the same task. I feel that this not only boosts the morale of the tutoring student, but also reinforces his learning. The student being tutored usually benefits from being tutored by a peer that is sympathetic to his learning.

David,
this is a great point. We have to treat each class as individuals & not assume what worked with one group will work with the next.

Try to mix your style of teaching because every class has a different characteristic. As a whole, one class may retain knowledge quickly and be ready to move on. Another class may struggle with the same concept and need more time to digest. understand their needs and adjust accordingly.

John,
excellent point made here. And often what we are studying that we think is "brand new" is actually a very old idea/concept.

I would offer another notion, not just "staying fresh" since "fresh" implies new, current, cutting edge, etc., but I think it very important, very relevant to revisit the time tested truths that are out there. I was listening to a book on tape and I think it was John Maxwell referring to CS Lewis. He used a great analogy, I can't remember it, but it made the point, something along the lines of "chronologically prejudiced" - meaning that many people think if what they are studying isn't "brand new" then it isn't worth much...just a thought.

I find myself teaching the same class over and over depending on enrollment, yet I find its never exactly the same.I find the different personalitys in my class influince me to deliver information differently each time.I also adapt the ever changeing products and technolegy as I learn them.

You should always be thinking how to change your class and the way you teaching for all student are different

every class is different and personalities are different too. you cant teach everyone the same.

Rachel,
this is why we need to be careful that we are staying fresh in our notes, reading, learning, etc. Don't repeat the same course 20 times!

I agree...you do not want to get stuck in a routine. Variety is important, both for the teacher and students to stay on alert.
