Evolution.

I think this topic is very interesting, because as a instructor you have to make everything connected like a the instructor's knowledge and delivery method the content and applicability benefit to the student. Also always be positive and believe what you are teaching will make the student leaner to be successful.

Tanya,

Yes the mood can be affected by just one or two.

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

Positive vibrations in the room is the key to learning. I do not allow any negativity in the classroom.

Billy,
this is so true & really it is the attitude that makes the difference in career performance & success (assuming there is the basic level of knowledge & skill).

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

A lot of times, having a good attitude is more important than the knowledge itself. I can teach someone a computer program, but if they're difficult to work with or they have a bad attitude, there's nothing I can do about that coworker. A student I can help mold their attitudes to be positive and open to suggestion, as well as being open to help others in their field.

And this is something the students can take with them elsewhere so you are setting a great example. I tell my students that "Attitude is Everything". We all want to be the best, but often the person who is second-best but has a great attitude is the successful one.

Bring a great attitude to class, students pick up on it and they look forward to the class. I always want to foster a feeling in the students that they just can't miss my class.

Tiwauna,
this is very true & this is why we have to bring our "A" game every day, even when we don't feel like it.

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

When a student can see the overall picture come together from the instructor it opens an appreciation for the lesson. Many times if the instructor exudes excitement it will reflect within the students

I agree with you totally. The setting of the positive expectation is hard for them to fight against.

Staci,
and this is a great example as you are in the "customer service industry" too (so to speak) & so can set that model for them.

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

I so agree with you Marvin, I teach massage which of course is a customer service industry and I get students that tell me they don't like talking to anyone or are "grumpy" all the time. Doesn't work in our industry....So as the instructor I always go in with a positive attitude and work very hard to break them of their bad habits.

marvin,
yes, and often we set the stage or the "climate" of the classroom.

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

I believe that being positive, and thinking positive can be contagious and will very quickly spread thought ut a class room. Positive students are more eager to learn and more succsessful in the class room.
