The better students

It's hard to challenge the more advanced students without making the other students feel like they are behind.

As do I, However I have found that some of the students rely on this to aidd them in not fully participating.. What do you do in that type of situation?

I agree Terry...the advanced students will get what they want and need regardless. Besides I believe linking them to a struggling, under performing students.

Let the advanced students challenge each other and work with those struggling.

I find that thats not the case at all. Most will sit back and let the better ones answer the questions even though they
knew.

Before moving advanced students on to the next project, have them practice their current project with different variables. This will help perfect every different technique with that specific project. If the student meets or exceeds expectations at that point, then have them pair up with another student that is behind. This would promote team work and gives students a chance to learn from each others mistakes.

Everyone one learns on different levels and pace just keeping the motivation I believe will improve the drive to advance more simply giving them challenges they haven't came across yet

yes but at what point does paying more attention to the struggling students take away from the advanced ones???

I sometimes get students that have some experience in our trade and I will tell the ones that don't not to worry about keeping up with them because they will learn as well. I will work more with the ones with no experience to give them the confidence that they can also succeed in school.

it is difficult to juggle different levels of learners. Sometime I will use the more advanced students as mentors for those that need extra attention.

I feel that you should challenge the advance students so the others students will maybe see that they are doing something different that they should try.

That's true. We always have a wide variety of knowledge levels and to keep everyone interested without holding someone back is a challenge.
