student attention

keep yourself from being a podium potato and move around to keep attention and interest of the class

Hi Edward!

I totally agree! It was always much easier for me when I was a student to have a real life project. I felt like I could use the knowledge gained in the workforce.

Good job!

Assigning a "real life project" is one of the best methods I have used to develop and keep student attention. The Business of Marketing and Design not only lends itself to group interaction, they must work as a collaborative advertising agency and start with a RFP (Request for Proposal), do target market reaearch, etc. The end of the project requires a formal presentation. I find that grading individuals, allowing them to grade each other, as well as grading the group produces the most active interaction.

I like to use team work in the classroom. I assign them into temporary teams, assign them a case study to discuss, and ask them to write their answers on the board. This gets the students moving and keeps their brains engaged, which is important to keep their attention during my night classes.

Hi Eddie!

Staying connect with students and continually challenging them to learn is the key to any classroom. It appears as though you challenge and encourage students to be successful.

Keep up the good work!

I agree, moving around the classroom is a great way to keep the student interested and they are less likely to fall asleep if they know that at some point you may walk directly past them. I like to keep training aids at diferrent areas of my classroom so that I am always moving around. This keeps the students eyes always moving which help sleepiness.
