gettung the class involved

I have found that in order to get the class involved I must put myself in thier shoes. Let them know that I was in thier exact position before. It lets them know I am human and not just some guy that likes to here himself speak..

Hi Jacenta!

When instructors share their personal experiences, it opens a whole new line of communication between instructor and student. You are exactly right - it does motivate students.

Good work!

I have found the same thing! If I mention how certain concepts were not easy when I was learning them as well and inform them that I have been in school and put in the hard work it takes to succeed, I think it gives them the motivation to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Great approach Annette!

It's the instructors responsibility to ensure that students are engaged and learning.

Good job!

Hi Kevin!

I like to think that we don't do much "pure" lecturing more of facilitative learning. I am of the opinion that students are more receptive to this approach. I also like participative learning where students are asked to present some of the lesson. Just a few ideas!

Keep up the good work!

I most certainly agree with MR.Ferguson. If you just talk at your students and dont get them involved then you will lose those students who are borderline not interested. In my school the students tend to fall asleep during lectures given by other instructors. I think you must lay ground rules before your lecture and also outline what the topics of the lecture will be.

I agree with Steve. I try and get all my classes involved. For instance, the students in my Anatomy and Physiology classes love that we can relate diseases and disorders that they or family members have with the lectures I am giving.
