sharmalan,
and we can be great examples of tailoring our communication styles to meet the various audience members; a great skill to have no matter what the career.

agree , instructor has to be passionate and uses the classroom as a stage to deliver. you're constantly being observed and it's your positivity that'll impact these students. Important pointers , examples ,experiences , motivation should always be implemented in every lecture. And use various methodology to lecture to always keep these students upbeat.

that is why you have to be proactive and keep them involved

Andrew,
and when the students see this they too are often lulled to sleep or into boredom.

sitting all the time gives an impression you are bored with the job or topic

I think it could make you appear comfortable and relaxed which the students may appreciate. If it's done at the right time.

steve,
this is a good question & one I think is based on the feeling you get from the class. I would say if you are sitting the entire time that might not be good, but to move around a little & then sit on the stool I think is fine. Especially given your height, as it might make the students feel you are looming over them.
