how to get students listen with your lecture
I found in my past expeienced that giving the Objective and points to remember and syudents to take notes get the students to listen and take notes during lecture time.
pace myself in talking and moving in a manner that is not too slow nor too fast.
Jenni,
this is a great point regarding our movement around the room & gestures. By engaging in these behaviors during the lecture we can provide those visual cues for remembering the content.

I know this is very important for students to be able to see the instructor in a different part of the room or to use gestures and examples so that they can remember the sequence and changes that happened as the lecture progressed.
roy,
I love these ideas & agree completely. If we can incorporate this type of variety, we have a better chance of keeping them engaged the whole time.

change the class environment every 10 to 15 mins. do something lecture, video, hands-on keep flowing around the subject but stay on the subject.
