White Board Outlines

I am always very specific on the class outlines. It not only helps the students, but helps me keep on track for the class time allocated.

I agree that being specific in your daily outlines is important. In the past, if I've had generalities in my outline, I tend to notice the class is uneasy with the lack of specificity. They like knowing what's going to take place and when. I believe it tends to make the students feel more comfortable as well, seeing that their instructor has a "plan" for the day.

We are required as faculty to list our objectives for the day on the white board prior to the start of class. I am pleased to note that nearly all the students look right at the objectives as soon as they enter the class. It clearly provides meaningful information to them and sets them up for what is to follow. I've become a big fan!

Guy,
this is so true & it helps the students know how the lesson is progressing.
