developing your communication skill

you have to be able to speak well to your students at all times.

Carrette,
this is an excellent point & while we want to create a less formal environment in our classes, we still need to be professional & realize that how we interact with our friends might not be received well by students.

Communication is like pillars on which a building is set;if the pillars are broken then the building will crumple. likewise, if communication is 'broken'then there will always be a disconnect be it in the home, in the classroom,at work or even with the strangers we come in contact with on a daily. A nasty look, a voice laced with annoyance, the roll of the eye can be that wrecking ball that thoroughly demolishes camaraderie and fill the air with negativity and animosity. As instructors we have to be mindful of of the importance of developing good communication skills as we interact with our students on a regular basis. Whereas we have to be in control of our class;we still have to be aware that we cannot be oppressive and offensive. Our classroom must be free from animosity. We set the tone of our classroom.

Communication is one of those thing that everyone need to succeed in life.
Good communication skill takes a lot of listening and patience.

freddie,
this is very true & to me this means being available, both in time & willing, & also making sure we have the listening skills that are required.
