student groups
What if a student demands to have their group changed due to not getting along with other group participants?
I too agree that changing from group to group does not help an individual adjust to the world of employment. All too often people must adjust to others who might not work or think the same way.The teacher does have some control when forming the groups so as not to put together people who have shown animosity towards one another.
Hi Robb!
I agree with you; however, it is important that we help students understand the group process and expected outcomes so that they can be successful in group work.
Good job!

Agreed. Work situations will most likely not allow for a lot of changes. There most be give and take from all members to be effective.
Explain to the student that he/she maybe needs to express their concerns to the group and see if, as a group, there can be some changes made that would make the situation more tolerable. The student needs to also understand that if this were a work environment, his supervisor may not be able to move him around to other work groups if some problem arises. Or the student may get caught in the trap that if he/she does not like it here, they can go elsewhere, and then find themselves jumping from job to job.
If the group really is a problem: change the student to another group.
