i have used in the past during my lecture by using multiple style of technique like lecture, videos, discussion and quiz and still stay in focus with the Topic ... really works and it really kept students focus more.
Using a variety of visual aids and delivery techniques really does help the students from becoming bored with the information. This is always my biggest challenge. I will put on more of a "show" to make sure students want to come to my class. As for myself, when I am a student, I like to feel like it is a "show", as well.
It is usually hard to keep the student's attention, but you have to figure out a way so that they do not get on their cell phones!
Whatever we can use to keep them focus is welcome. They have so much distraction in to their class, it takes as much to get them engaged & to keep them focused.
