Past Experience
I like to get students talking about their past experiences as it might relate to their field of study. This will help peak interest and maintain motivation.
Within the first couple day of getting a new group of students I like to try and talk a little to each student individually to find out why they have chosen to come to this school. I find that asking them a few questions about why they are there really helps them to open up and helps me find out a bit about their own personal experience in the field.
I like to encourage students to share past life experience because it can often times be related to their studies in ways they may not be aware of. Doing this can allow students to feel a connection to the courses and feel more sucessful as students.
