LEARNING DISABILITY

We need to help the students stay focus on their goal while they ar facing their chanellage of reading or learning english.

ELL students with a learning disability are especially challenging to work with. I give these students extended time on quizzes and tests, but they still need to put in the time to learn algebra (in my case) well outside of class. I am willing to work with them one-on-one, but with their work and other schedule conflicts, many of these students think they will do just fine without putting in the extra effort and sacrifice. I try to always welcome any questions and requests for help, but I spend more time convincing students that are failing to stay a few minutes after class to make sure they know how to do their homework assignments.

Alicia,
This is a great example of making accomodations that are within your control in order to help these students.

Dr. Ryan Meers

I have a student with a learning disability I allow the student to go into a room by theirself to take test so the student can concentrate and not have the distractions of the other students moving around. I also make sure the the students knows that they can take the whole class time there is no rush to complete the test or quiz.

Some students will have learning disabilities and will require more attention. I have to break things down to the simplest form for those with learning disabilities and instructor who teach those with learning disabilities have to be very patient and understanding.
