REPITITION
In the area that I teach which is brakes I always use repetition for some areas such as using the brake lathe and also the drum brake trainers....I feel the more they do it the easier it becomes and the more confidence they build in themselves and I also find it stays in their memory alot longer
Elaine,
it really is true that nothing replaces good old fashioned repetition.
Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Yes, I agree, repetition is good because it is a porcess that the students must do over and over again to have better retention and understanding on why they are performing a particular skill.
Thank you Leslie. It has always been my practice to have students use all their senses when learning so that information is stored in different formats. (the feel of something, the smell, the sound, etc.) Once we go through the whole range of senses, we do it again on a different day. Phil

In teaching muscles to a class so they can remember the origins, insertions and actions, they have to see them over and over as well as write them and hear them many times so they can recall them from one time to the next.
Leslie,
yes, repetition really does provide a strong aid in learning to students.

Through the use of repition any student once they hear it ,see it, read it and feel it they will with repitition have it stored in there long term memory and muscle memory. I have found that audio, visual, tactile, and writing over and over helps dramaticaaly with foriegn students.
James,
yes, the old saying really is true.

Repitition works well I will show the students as I lecture on a process, have the student perform the task then do it all over again and it seems to work well.
Glenn,
yes, repetition definitely aids learning.
Dr. Ryan Meers
using repetition no matter how basic the job seams to you, they will always benefit from the repetition so it becomes very familiar to them.
amy,
yes & the doing is key to learning.
Dr. Ryan Meers
This is great because you actually have the DO it as opposed to just telling them about it over and over again.
