Challenged learners
As an instructor, I have developed what I call a 'Toolbox' of delivery methods that include using 'students that get it.' I will get other students involved because at this point, everyone wants to be the hero that got through to the challenged student. It is at this point that I become a traffic controller so that there is order, but this seldom fails.
Patricia,
and this helps those who are struggling & also those who "get it" as teaching reinforces the learning.

Designated or selected groups that are hand picked work well. The students that "get it" are paired with students that "don't get it". Often having another student give a tip of learning or what it means to them is helpful. I try to learn from this also, repeating information when they 'got it' in the same style when reviewing other exams. The student that was struggling often responds to the repeated information in the same format. I'm alsways open for discussion on learning, the students can teach the instructors ways they learn.
