Learning Disabilities

I've found that speaking to classes about my own personal past difficulties in school, and the tools I used to overcome that helps in making them feel less self-conscious & more willing to seek assistance with their own issues.

I liked the suggestion about underlining key points and giving students an outline to take notes on. these strategies help all students.

yes,Students and people in general always want to feel that they are not 'different' just unique.by treating them like the people you expect them to become not necessarraly who they are is good advice.

Student learn best when incentives for learning satisfy their motives and needs. They seek new experiences and they have a need to overcome personal challenges and to become competent and be accepted for who they are, this is rewarding and sometimes mean more to them than grades. As Teachers we should design assingments and activities in class to address these needs, this will sustain learning more effectively.

Absolutely!! How gracious of you to help others realize that they are not alone, that they do not have to be singled out, that they just 'learn differently', that they can succeed and be successful. Students and people in general always want to feel that they are not 'different' just unique. By assisting others thru opening yourself up to individuals who learn differently you are providing them with a 'commonality' that can be conquered. Kudos to you and others who truly care about humanity!!
