helping student with learning disabilities

In one of my class i have a student wtih learning disability, at the beginnig of the course she inform me of her issue.I gave her tips on study guides, and how to re-write word contents at least five times, and use flash cards to help her. Any suggestions?

I agree with your statement.

Greetings Shane!

It's really great when students let us know about their learning challenges at the beginning of class. It makes it so much easier to assist them .

Keep up the good work!

I have had some students with learning disabilities in my class before. Sometimes the school will even assigned a note-taker for them. Sometimes the students will let me know at the beginning of the term, and tell me what they need. It usually won't be too difficult to assist them. However, as an instructor, I think that being willing to help and showing respect are very important attitudes to have.

Hi Greg!

I hope that you have been able to share this experience with your students.

Good job!

I have to figure what something says then understand what it is I read. I had an instructor who would not allow me time to process and I had to walk out of the class for a moment to cool off. When I came back he gave me a test and to his surprise I was the only one that received a 100%. Very frustrating to have an instructor that won’t give you time to process .Taking extra time has been most helpful for me and I get better at it every day.
