helping students with learning disabilities
I have had success with tutoring students with reading disabilities, just by letting them read to me and then tell me what their understanding of what they read.
Adam ,
this is a great idea & it helps us to know how & when to push them on or give them more help. If they are not ready for that next step, it can become very frustrating & discouraging if we push them on.

I have also had success with this type of approch. In my field there are instructions for what the student is trying to accomplish. They dont alway uderstand the steps or what is being explained in writing. This type of pre evaluation shows me that they are ready to complete the task at hand.
That sounds so great. I remember doing this in
grammer school. I was the teacher. This made it easier. Each student felt validateed.
I have done the same and it works out well. It also helps with people whose primary language it not English.
In my opinion, the greatest challenge is to identify the type of diability some students have, cause as has been mentioned, so many use the term dyslexia to describe all forms of learning disability.
