DISABLITITY

TODAY IN TIME WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE STUDENT WITH LEARNING DISABLITIES. OUR JOB IS TO WORK AROUND THEM

I don't understand what it means "to work around them"... I believe that students with learning disabilities are still our students who need more of our attention and desire to help them to succeed and join the workforce. By the way, many of them are more determined that others, without learning disabilities.

When I find out they have a disability I try to find more about it and find a way of teaching in a way that the student will learn.

Exactly William!

When we enable challenged learners and play into their "oh poor me" syndrome, then we do all a disservice. All students should have our support and respect while offering learning opportunities.

Keep up the good work!

I have student with hearing diorders and its a little harder because some of the key points you give with expression are lost in translation but the thought that your trying to convey still must come across with the same importance. It is more challenging to think out your lecture in stead of common lecturing the same info that is commonly given with the same presentation.I have to challenge my self to pick words that are more expressive than others.Find new ways to get the same key points across.

Students with disabilties can be successful if they are taught the proper skills and accept repsonsibility for their role in learning. Many times I have come across people who expect and want to be given "what they feel they are entitled to" when referencing accomodations. As long as students with disabilities put for their greeatest efforts with our help, success can be achieved.

Our job is to work with them to achieve success and add them to the job market. They can and do achieve success!
