Training and Reptition

Training and repetition on projects help student internalize knowledge and skills. More they repeat and more learning occurs.

HAROLD,
That is how I learned my trade area as have so many other people over the years. Students today often do not want to invest in themselves enough to perform the needed repetitions to acquire the skills. You standard of 10 complete urinalysis procedures is an effective way of getting to the level they need to be to be successful in their field.

I do believe in repetition. Repetition is an extremely important factor in the performance of laboratory procedures. As a clinical instructor, Each each student must perform ten (10) complete urinalysis procedures as part of their requirements for passing the course in Urinalysis. This type of training and repetition is important.

Jason,
This has been my experience as well. This instructional strategy helps the students to retain the needed skills and content so they will be available to them when they are in the work world.

this works great when applied at tech training school. Agreed to have life like experiences applied with the training , lectures and demos.

John,
Absolutely. Without any connection to application content quickly lose value to students. They need to see relevancy to what is being taught and how application can be made.

Repetition without relevance sometimes becomes a mindless exercise. Try adding some real life scenarios to the training to give it some meaning or purpose.

Zafar,
This learning method has been proven to be effective. The more we repeat the procedure the more it becomes a part of our working memory. When it is stored in our working memory we are able to retrieve it as needed and this is what learning is about.
