Work in an inner city school what would be the best way to help these kids stay motivated when all they see is a white instructor who made it and they don't think they can?

Hi Tiffany,
Good strategy of bring past success stories into the classroom. As you know students like to hear stories about how other people have achieved in their field. Gives them role models to work toward.

It may require a little research on your part but try & find some success people that they can relate to that is topic related. The 1st usually are a good place to start when looking. The 1st heart surgeon or the 1st one to find the virus etc. This will take the pressure off of you and return it back to the subject. It may also require you to really look at whether or not these are your issues or theirs.

Hi Luciano,
Each career field needs to have positive role models that students can see and strive to be like. Anytime an instructor can share these role models with students they will be doing a great service to the learning pathway of these individuals. Keep up the good work.

Try to show them that there is a lot of black people that have made it and they can do the same.
