Learning Characteristics - Visual Learners

Most of my students (at least 50%) are visual learners. They remember visual images much better than orally presented concepts. But I have trouble making subjects like Algebra visual. Anybody have ideas about how to make math visual?

Hi Juiia,
Thanks for sharing these visual/tactile strategies for teaching math. For many students math is a real challenge and the more we as instructors can show relevancy and application the greater the acceptance and success is going to be for out students.

Making math visual is certainly a challenge. Story problems are a valuable platform when relating visual images via power point slides. Group activities such as predicting where a ball will land when dropped from a specific height can also help give visualization to a physics problem.
