Relating to your students
It is important that you get to know each of your students. My first day of class I do alot of bonding techniques so that all the students will feel comfortable whether young or old.
I like to provide structure for my students by introducing the syllabus & my expectations, but then I like to hear from then why they are here and what they want to get out of the class. So from day one we are all aware of what the expectations are for everyone.
The first day of class I try to do ice breaker activities so my students feel more comfortable with me and each other. As my students come to class, I will introduce myself to them and have that one on one time with them.
Hi Angel,
The first day needs to be comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable so the students can get settled into the course. Your strategies are doing that so the students will look forward to course.

Yes, i agree. The first day of class is a great time to introduce ice breaker activities to set the tone for the class. The students relax and feel more comfortable from the start!
