Motivation

I feel that students do better when they are motivated and encouraged when the do a good job it makes them feel like they are on the right track

I agree Lynvina. As instructors, it's very important we keep our students motivated and always offer them words of encouragement!

I find that any life experiences you can pull into your teaching are helpful for motivating students. Whether it is telling them about a time that you put to use the topic that you're teaching, or even just talking about something funny (topic appropriate of course) that has happened to you in the professional setting. I teach a late evening class and when our lecture hits 9:30pm, most of my students have either been working all day or with their children/family. A little story or experience that is on the entertaining/humorous side can really "pep" them up a little, yet still keep the dialogue on topic.

Hi Lynvina,
So true. What are some strategies that have worked well for you in keeping the interest levels of your students?
Gary

I have had very good success with motivating students. I think that sometimes or most of the time people give up because they feel they have no self worth. When you make them aware that they play an important role usually you will see improvement.
