Apply life practical experience to course lecture
One area to help all adult learners is to use
their life experience to enrich the course content.
This will help motivate them to be in the class because they can see their contribution to the overall course.

Taking students out to visit areas of their expertise will bring it all to life and show them what its all about. It will also antipate their learning and show them exactly what is expected.

It is good to shape something like this now and then for the reasons you stated. The students need to realize that we are humans to with the same frustrations and challenges as our students are facing. This creates more of a "were are all in this together" atmosphere.

Sometimes when we instructors share a nugget of adversity in our lives and how we have overcome it lets them (students) know that they are not alone and can become what they see in their future.

Right you are about helping adult learners bring in their life experiences to support their learning. Many of them as you know feel like they won't be successful since they have been out of school so long. So by sharing their life experiences they quickly learn that they can do the work if they will put forth the effort.
