my info

how much information about myself should I give, how much is too much?

Leonard,
This is what increases the value of what you are sharing with your students. You have done it and now are sharing it with your students. What great preparation for them.

I relate to the students of my own experience as a graduate of Cinema Studies at the New York Film School of Visual Arts. The faculty at SVA comprised of working professionals, active in the film industry, similar to the faculty at the International Academy of Film and Television.

Citing various film production experiences and challenges as a director/cameraman where my work has taking me around the world, combined with being a film student, the students can relate to me and are engaged from my work experience as a filmmaker.

Hi John,
In the Career College (or in any course actually) during the orientation for the new term, I provide a Keynote presentation of my professional and academic history. I also include a couple of human interest topics (a couple of the items that I am involved with outside of the work environment) along with one fun fact about myself. I am establishing by knowledge of the field, my career connections, but also a little about myself so that the students know that I have interests and like to do interesting activities.

John,
Enough to establish yourself as they learning leader so students will be comfortable with you and your methods.
