student focus
some time you have to teach students in the class to be on time. Its an issue within the the students. need to tell them how inportant it is to be in class on time.
most of our students look at it that they are paying to be here in school and they can show up whenever they want and it shouldn't count against them.
they of course add that if it were their job and once they leave school, they will be paid and will be there on time or not leave early.
we are constantly reminding them that attendance now is very important and it is the only thing the dealers have to go off of to get an idea about them
Part of the problem is that they have not been taught that being on time is important. We know it is important, but the student has not been taught or told that before. Many employers talk about how hard it is to get their young employees to understand that they need to be at their job on time to help the team.
It seems hard for some of them to make the connection from the classroom to the "real world".
I agree with that it is vary inportant for them to understand that. I tell my classes the same thing all the time.
i absolutely feel that sometimes we have to teach them to be in class and be there on time. With our newest generation they have not yet experienced enough to understand how much attendance means to them for their careers. I try to take time at the end of every three week module to express to them the importance of attendance. I let them know that most service managers are willing to teach them how they want them to do the job, but they cannot teach them to show up to work. If you have good habits in school, it has the tendency to be that way when you get out of school and go to work.
I tell my students that when they are trying to get a job that attendance is the first thing that they look at.
