Alot of times got LazY students?/
What do you do when they get lazy on you?
Mix it up. If I have been doing lecture I shift to more hands on. Sometime group work but the lazy ones still fall through the gap.
Most recently, I use a pop quiz format. after grading it, hand it back and give open book time to get the right answers. If they do the work I average it together for class work time. The then present the answers. Students learn quickly that they have responsibility to be prepared.
Applications are great and I find that small groups are very beneficial in the fact that being to work with their peers verses by themselves is a great motivator.
I agree. Applications or any type of work that can be done hands on can really reach those students attentions that are lazy or just bored. It is important to remember that every student learns differently.
Hi Brooke,
I bring in problems or case studies put them into groups and have the work together to solve the situations and then report back to the class. This always gets the going again. They really like application situations.
