Reaching all students

When a lecture is of a particular topic that some students may already know and others not it is very difficult to keep all interested and challanged. There should be a variety of learning tools at the ready for different learning styles.

Rob,
Don't have a good answer to this situation. I face this about once a year and it is always a challenge because I don't feel they are at the level at which I like to send students out of my class. I work with them intensely but sometimes they leave with those bad habits still a part of how they do things.

So... On this topic. I always end up with a couple students with a little field experience. My problem there is to get them to unlearn bad habits. Some just plain refuse to learn it the correct way. I hate letting them pass (minimum scores )knowing that they are procedurally wrong.

Douglas,
This is a valid point. We need to strive to reach each one but the reality is that we won't. I want to feel at the end of the class that I did everything I could as a professional educator to reach each student and that is the best that I can do.

Agree, but I think it is naive to expect to reach all students all the time
