Staying focused
So many times I have gotten burned out until the end of a term. Not because of teaching, but mostly administrative duties. Does anyone have any suggestions on staying focused and separating administrative duties?
LaShonda,
This is such good advice for instructors. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I would suggest that you keep a schedule at all times. What ever time you block off for administrative work utilize that time only for that and make sure the time isn't prolonged that will cause you to forget the real reason you teach.
Juanita,
This is why it is important to have an outline for the lesson and clear goals that you want to accomplish. Both of these components will help you to stay on target with what you want to cover that class session.

That's can be Good for Both Students and Instructor.
Sometimes if Lecture is interupted too much by answering questions during The Lecture you can loose your line of thought, not to burned out rather, set aside allotted time for questions to be answered at The End of The Lecture,in this way students have ample enough time to go over what they do not understand with their Instructor.
I tend to do the same thing. However, i have found that it is possible to separate the 2 by using time management a little more efficiently.
Kimberly,
Something I do is to develop and implement something new in my class when I get bogged down by my administrative work. This way I have something new to look forward to in my class and I'm not sure how it will work out with my students. This gets my excitement level up and I have fun with the activity. With the new energy level I can attack my administrative work and get through it a little easier.
