Student Motivation
It is beneficial to show students how much they are learning in their chosen field by conversing with them about the subject matter in informal settings throughot the course. This positive feedback can reenergize their experience.

Without a connection to the instructor and an excitement for the field students are going to have a tough time being successful. The more we can create such connections the more success our students are going to enjoy.

For adult education student motivation is very important. Student must aware of the reality. The new field they choose must have practical application in their professional carrier. As an instructor we have to build a rapport with the students. Show the right pathway.
I agree about reenergizing the students. I believe that if I can get them to see what they have already accomplished, it will allow me to refocus as an instructor and realize that I may be more effective than I thought!

What a great compliment you are giving them. They will remember your comments for years to come. A few simple words are serving your students (when earned as you say) as motivators and a way to encourage those that may have gotten worn down during the course.

You're right- when students do really well, I'll often tell them that based on their performance in class, that I'd hire them right now. They get really excited and feel like they're a veterinary technician already- I only say it when I mean it, but they really do respond to it, and feel very accomplished.

You make a good point about students needing to be reminded of what they are learning and how far they have come. Sometimes they get bogged down with "life" and they need to be reminded that they are moving forward daily toward their career goals.
