Motivation
Yes, I believe the instructor is the motivator. I always try my best to motivate my students and it seems to work on more than half of the class....
Hi Hans,
They really do enjoy stories about your career or examples of how a problem was solved. The integration of these examples and stories really help to reinforce the content that is being shared. Keep up the good work with the stories and examples.

Motivation can come in many ways, I like to include a few past expierences that were positive proof for efforts put forth in our indtusry. Students seem to enjoy a short story sometimes that can possibly give them hope and inspiration to push a little harder to be the best they can be.
Hi Diane,
The personal touch is such a powerful motivator. When the students know you care about their success that work even harder to not only be successful but to meet your expectations.

Motivation can be something as easy as talking with the students in the school cafeteria and reminding them to come to class for the really cool lectyre-
Motivating the student can also be giving them assignments where they learn and the assignments are fun like a game.
Hi Troy,
Motivation has a number of components. First, you need to show how the course is relevant to the lives of your students. Then you need to work on establishing rapport with your students. If they see that you respect them and want them to succeed then they will work to meet your expectations.
Another motivation factor is success. By having activities and learning opportunities that show the students that they can succeed in your course and that they are making progress toward their career goals.

Hi Jason,
You make a number of very good points about student motivation. As an instructor you have to continually work to set the stage for positive learning experiences. By doing this you can maintain the motivation needed for learning progress.
Gary
what kind of motivation do u use exactly
Motivating students is a difficult task. Do not expect immediate results with all of your students. As an instructor it is part of your job to motivate, your enthusiasm can help with motivating them. In this enviornment the student choose to be enrolled, they need to be pushed and motivated to ensure they made a correct decsion for their life. They need this reinforcment everyday to keep them invovled with the learnign process. If they percieve the curriculum worth while they will put more of themselves into the learning process.
