Student Feedback

As an instructor I know that it is important to provide feedback in a timely manner. However, I have never thought of feedback as a motivator for retention. I provide quick and informative feedback but now will focus on the additional benefits that help students succeed.
Thank you for the information, I think this can only help.

i agree, retention is important and can truely be succesful by students giving feedback on how to make the class a success.

Hi Cristian,
Timely feedback is very important as you mentioned. Students don't like to be left without knowing how the have done on an assignment or test. By giving quick feedback they can see where they are in the course and where they need to concentrate to continue their progress in the course.

I think positive (or negative) feedback can be a major factor on retention.
i put more emphasis on "timmely" feedback than the actual format or delivery of the feedback, sometimes a positive critique at the right time is more appreciated by students, than a formal presentation of it.

Group critiques work well with keeping students involved during the feedback process. This also allows them to receive the feedback they need and ensures that they understand.

Hi Andy,
Good to hear about how you intend on using feedback in addition to what you have already been doing. I know your students will benefit greatly from your efforts.
