enthusiasm is the cornerstone

I believe that it reinforces the students choice of career study.

I agree. My students see my enthuiasm and get excited to learn. They enjoy knowing that I have gone through so much and still have a passion for my career and in teaching them not only the material, but life experiences as well. The course and myself become real to them. They have their eyes wide open.

I have always told stories about work and how I solved a problem, but lately I have started to tell stories about some of my design faliures on a job and what I learned from it and how to make it better next time. They seem to realize that there is more here than someone standing in front of them and talking about a subject. It becomes more personal and they can see that everyone makes mistakes and can learn from them. You become a real person to them.

i have found myself lately sharing more of my personal work with my students and they really seem to enjoy it. the modifications that i do to the atv's or bikes that i have seems to spark interest in why i want to change something or how to make something better or more personal, not just something that was purchased from a catalog. the students show more interest and are asking more questions as to how things work or why it was built the way it was
